Location : You want to see where West Virginia gots it motto... "Wild and Wonderful "- this is it! 23K acres of wild and wonderful. This is rural WV at its best. I haven't been up here in years, and traveling here reminded me of the where I started geocaching. Some of my first hides were on this mountain. There are multi ways into Sleepy Creek, I suggust go to Shanghai and take Hamshire Grade road. Turn off Hamshire Grade Road at the small sign marked Sleepy Creek Lake, I have posted a waypoint. You will then drive on a gravel road for nearly 5 miles to the cache.
Sleepy Creek Lake is a 205-acre impoundment in the 23K acre Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area. The lake is nestled between two mountain ridges: Sleepy Creek Mountain and Third Hill Mountain.
Sleepy Creek Lake provides fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, northern pike and channel catfish. Looking for a day of fishing while you’re here, bring your pole, this is your place, you'll be at the lake for this one.
The Geocache : Follow your GPS to the parking Waypoint. When you park you will be less than 200 ft from the lake. SO, be careful if you have children with you.
After finding Stage one, it will give you ABC for FINAL. Final is at N 39° 30.935 W 078° 09.262 ( UPDATE, there appears to be a problem at Stage one so for now, I'll give you the coords to the final. Hide well)
Please screw the top back on stage one very very tightly, you understand why when you find it. The final cache is a ammo box about 160 ft. from stage one, hidden in hollow fallen tree. Enjoy your fishing experience, hope you catch something !
