Geocache Description:

This cache placement is part of the Garland History GeoTour. The GeoTour consists of more than 30 caches highlighting places of importance in the Garland area. You do not need to do the GeoTour to claim a find on this hide. However, should you wish to download the GeoTour passport and complete enough of the tour's caches to earn our beautiful GeoCoin, you can find the GeoTour page here. The log will contain a secret word which you must enter on your passport in the appropriate slot.

Be sure to log your "Will Attend" for the kickoff party of Garland GeoTour 2.0!

This state-of-the-art performance center includes two elegant proscenium theatres that can accommodate everything from Broadway touring shows to symphony concerts.

The elegant Brownlee Auditorium has seating for 720. It features a magnificent proscenium stage, hydraulic orchestra lift, 55-foot fly loft with a counterweight system, and state of the art sound and lighting equipment.

The charming small proscenium theatre has intimate stadium seating for 200 and is equipped with full curtains and complete booth controlled lighting and sound systems.

The center was named for Patty Granville.  In 1982, Granville became the first director of the Garland Center for the Performing Arts. She is co-founder of the Garland Summer Musicals (GSM) and the Performing Arts Center Guild, which developed the Arts in Action Cable TV Show and Newsletter.

This is the location at which we held the launch party for the Garland History GeoTour on September 17th, 2022. If you're working on a GeoTour passport, that's awesome! You're in for a great cache of caches. If you aren't, consider it. There are dozens of stops on the tour and you'll learn a lot about Garland...probably some things even Garland natives didn't know.

You can download the passport from the GarlandGeoTour profile page or pick one up from the Garland Landmark Museum, just a hop, skip and a jump from here. Check the museum's website for their days and hours of operation.
