Good thing this one is a low-pressure happy decision: Left or right? Middle Fork or O'Malley gully? Mellow meander or friendly switchbacks?
If you can't decide, make a loop of it. First head down Middle Fork trail, hang a right at the Williwaw lakes trail, trek down a beautiful valley, go past the emerald green Williwaw lakes, take a sharp right up to the "Ballfield", walk across the moonscape of the Ballfield, then back down the switchback trail right back to this spot. It is a sublime day hiking or backpacking loop.
