The mega:MK team bring you the 16th Annual UK Geocaching Mega
Welcome to the UK’s smallest county (yes, really! We’re not talking ceremonial here) aiming to be the biggest UK Mega yet (could you help us go bigger??)! Come and enjoy sustainable geocaching around our many parks and lakes, with over 280 miles of redways (our pedestrian and cycle paths), accessible via foot, wheelchair, cycle, escooter, public and all others modes of transport.
When – Saturday 5th August 2023, 10am to 4pm
Where – Campbell Park Events Plateau, Central Milton Keynes, MK9 3FT
Campbell Park is Grade II listed due to it's historical significance, as well as the event's plateau where the Mega takes place, it includes a number of pieces of stunning public art. The centre piece is the Milton Keynes Rose, a world renowned civic space and commemorative installation.
How to get there – Train: Trains from the West Coast Mainline, available from stations between and including London Euston and Birmingham New Street, to Milton Keynes Central Railway Station (see waypoint). You can then walk, run, use an escooter or bike, bus, to 12th Street, or directly to the mega location.
International trains are also available to London St Pancras via the Eurostar from mainland Europe, and you can walk/bus/use the underground to get to London Euston.
Bus/Coach: Buses and Coaches to Milton Keynes Coach Station, Milton Keynes Central Railway Station, or centre:MK/12th Street. You can then catch a subsequent bus, escooter, bike or walk to the mega location.
Car: We encourage car sharing! Milton Keynes is easily accessible from the M1, A5, and many surrounding local roads. You can use the Milton Keynes Park and Ride at the coach station and get a group ticket for less than parking in the city centre, or use one of the many free or paid parking waypoints.
Flying / Plane: Our nearest airport is London Luton, and you can catch a train into London and back out to Milton Keynes Central. The scenic train route involves catching a train to Bedford, then to Bletchley, then to Milton Keynes Central. We recommend using any airport easily reached by London Euston railway station, or Birmingham New Street railway station.
What – The mega:MK team will be bringing you fun, stalls and activities including one off lab caches! We’re based in the city centre, so bring a muggle and they can shop, ski or sightsee. The railway station is within walking distance, so come for the day! We reckon day trips from Europe on the Eurostar are very possible; stay overnight in one of the many local hotels, or make the most of the entire week and come and camp.
This is a free to attend event. There is no entry fee.
We have a full programme for the entire week across the county. Camping is available from Monday 31st July to Monday 7th August.
Camping, supporters packs, and geocoins are available on our website shop, at https://megamk.org.uk. Follow our social media, visit our website and sign up for our newsletter for the latest information:
