Bring your own canoe/kayak/SUP for an evening paddle on the River Hamble.
Please note: the event is weather dependent. I'll post any updates and a go/no-go decision as an announcement on this event page. Please post a 'Will attend' log if you are coming along and then you'll receive notifications of any updates (and I'll know how many to expect).
Launch from the public slipway on Swanwick Shore Road, SO31 7EF. Please note that there are around 30 parking spaces in the carpark and it can get busy, so car sharing would be a good idea if possible. Parking charges apply 10:00 to 18:00, £1/hr. If there are no spaces when you arrive, see if you can leave your kit with other cachers at the slipway and then relocate the car to residential roads off of nearby Swanwick Lane (the other side of Bridge Road) then walk back.

There will be an optional post-event evening paddle for anyone interested. At 19:15 sharp (to catch the last of the flood tide) we'll head upstream for about an hour then head back to Swanwick for about 21:15 (sunset is at 21:15). This will be a paddling distance of about 2 miles each way. The river is tidal so you should be comfortable in manoeuvring amongst moorings and other river users in what may be strong(ish) currents. A headtorch would be useful just in case of any unforeseen delays in getting back.

The usual disclaimers… you attend the event (and post-event paddle) at your own risk. Wearing a buoyancy aid is highly recommended.
