Come kick off a celebration of geocaching with an epic day filled with prizes, games within games, and, of course, dozens of new geocaches to be found. This is...

This event is the kick-off of a full day of activities. Meet with other geocachers, put together teams, and plan how to attack the day. You do not need to participate in The BarterDash game to sign the log for this event and get a smiley.
The BarterDash is a mix of geocaching and the game Haggle. Each geocache will contain sealed envelopes with custom geocaching playing cards inside. Do not open the envelope when you get them! You may only collect one envelope per geocache.

The goal of the game is to make a hand of cards worth the most points possible. The more cards (in sealed envelopes)from different geocaches you collect, the better your chance of creating a high-scoring hand.
Game cards have different types of geocaches on them (such as TRADITIONAL or WEBCAM). These game cards have a point value and can affect the point value of other cards if they are also in your hand. You will need to figure their value out during the game. Game cards have the same value for all teams; at the evening event you will want to barter information with other teams to learn their values and how they can affect other cards.
Rule cards explain how to figure out the value of the game cards. For example, A Traditional card is worth 2 points (it isn't), or A Webcam card doubles the point value of Traditional cards in your hand (it doesn't). All rules apply to every team, regardless if they actually know them. Your goal is to learn as many rules as possible and then construct a hand with the most points possible.

Every team will receive a game packet, including:
- Information on how to play The BarterDash
- A few playing cards to get you started
- A list of all geocaches for this event, which will be published the morning of the event. If will have a GPX file available on a laptop if you use a GPSr.
- A large playing card to punch a unique shape into at each geocache you visit. To prevent teams from splitting up, you must have a shape punched for each card you come back with.
- A simple map showing general cache locations. They will be grouped in different areas, so you can get several at each stop.
- Contact info in case you have questions during the event

You will have a chance to barter cards and information with other teams and turn in your best hand at the Community Celebration event in the evening.
If you are participating in The BarterDash game, you should plan to attend both events:
