What’s Poppin’ ? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

FisherCMH: Alas, Pam has had to shut up shop at this location.

And so it goes with Geocaching. Time to release this location back into the wild in the hopes another cacher will be inspired to hide something new.

A big thank you to Pam for being such a gracious host to this cache.

And a big thank you to the many cachers that came out to make the find and logged so much fun!

Much appreciated!

Geocache Description:

This cache is oughta sight! No need to take afence. There are good intentions behind it.

You do not need to enter the store to find the geocache.

Congratulations to AxolotlBoy and dprice95 for the First To Find.

The Store

Pam had a place in the North Market, selling award winning hot dogs and gourmet popcorn. Now the taste of Chicago (and the accent of Chicago!) is here in Gahanna. Pam is excited to have a geocache right outside her store, and she's looking forward to meeting new people.

Chicago Popcorn

Chicago style popcorn is a mix of caramel popcorn, cheese popcorn, and “traditional” (or “seasoned”) popcorn. These days, it’s more commonly a mix of caramel and cheese.

A traditional, savory popcorn seasoning has a mix of salts (maybe garlic, celery, sea salt) and spices (such as paprika, cumin, cayenne) and other special touches (ranch dressing powder, cilantro, lime juice, etc.).  Everyone had their own recipe.

Chicago Dogs

A Chicago style hot dog is a beef frankfurter on a poppy seed bun, with yellow mustard, green relish, tomato, peppers, celery salt, and a pickle spear on top. It’s supposed to look messy, with that “dragged through the garden” look.

A traditional Chicago Dog DOES NOT have ketchup on it. Chicagoans can be very particular about that. Some hot dog carts in Chicago don’t even offer ketchup as an option.

The Vienna Beef brand is the #1 choice of frankfurter for a Chicago Dog. They’re also the #1 supplier of hot dog carts. Who knew?
