Another cache placed in our ever beautiful kapunda
This three arched bridge was built in 1869
Ross Creek Bridge on Kidman Road.
This almost forgotten bridge was once on the main road from Kapunda to Fords, Freeling and Tarlee but a later surveyed road made it a seldom-used back road. This stunning triple arch stone bridge is the only triple arch stone bridge in SA constructed in the 19th century. It was erected in 1869 at a time of great optimism. It has two spans of 2.8 metres and a central span of 5.5 metres. It is constructed of bluestone with freestone quoin arches showing the great technical skills of the stonemasons and engineers. It is now only used by local traffic from Kapunda to farming properties.
