The Puget Sound Naval Ammunition Depot began operations in 1904. Warships entering the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for repair work would offload their ammunition to be stored in the depot. When the ships left after repair work the ammunition would be loaded onto the ships as they left the shipyard. The depot had storage buildings, bunkers and workshops for maintaining the high explosive shells. The depot closed in 1959 and the Jackson Park housing was built. Part of the old depot is the City of Bremerton NAD park where the geocachers play. Enjoy the peaceful woods and some remaining small ammunition bunkers.
