Geocache Description:

Mugga Mugga cottage was built in the late 1800s for the head shepherd of the Duntroon Estate, in the early years of Canberra's development.

The cottage itself is basic, showing what life was like in the era for the working family with no electricity or running water. Homes were built with second hand materials sourced on the property, making this a rustic and interesting place to explore. The property is private.

In a curtained off area outside the kitchen is the "bath". The area consisted of a small dark space and a metal tub. Cold water was needed to be carried 150m up the hill from the water well to fill the tub - not the ideal bathing experience in a cold Canberran winter.

The historic water well still features today in its original state not far from the cache with a square metal fence around it and timber supports to hold the water bucket. You can see the water well and historic white home from GZ and how far the water was carried daily.150m up the hill .

The cache is a small size and well hidden at GZ containing log book, pencil and plenty of swaps.Pictures of the Water well encouraged but not the cache hide.

Stealth required .Parking 50m nearby on the grass shoulder. Good Luck.
