If you haven't yet visited Mathaf, the Arab Museum of Modern Art, now you have an additional reason to go. There is a lot of interesting art outdoors. Children - but not only children - will enjoy exploring Adam Henein's "The Ship."
The building housing Mathaf was originally a school. In 2010 it was reincarnated as a museum, and the foundation of the collection is based on purchases by Sheik Hassan bin Mohamed bin Ali Al Thani, an accomplished artist and patron of the arts. In addition to its broad and fascinating collection there is an arts library, gift shop, café and little park.
There is great public transportation to get here. You can take the Metro to Education City, and from there take the Education City tram. Alternatively, there is a shuttle (pink buses!) that runs between Mathaf and MIA (The Museum of Islamic Art) every hour on the hour.
This is also a stop on the Qatar Museums Adventure Lab, so don't miss that!
