Welcome to the Illustrious Riverview Casino!
The cache is not at the posted coordinates! You could park there on Casino Drive and walk to the cache but it bumps up the terrain rating to at least a 4.5. Let me know if you try it!
The former casino located near here was flooded and washed into the Barnegat Bay. We're betting that wont happen again! Besides new gaudy carpets, we've added more games. Go ahead and take'm for a spin. You might just learn something. Good luck!
The term "Casino" is of Italian origin, the root word being "Casa" (house) and originally meaning a small country villa, summerhouse or pavilion. The word changed to refer to a building built for pleasure, usually on the grounds of a larger Italian villa or palazzo. Such buildings were used to host civic town functions – including dancing, music listening and, of course, gambling.
By coincidence, the first Casino cache was hidden on December 5th 2013 - exactly 80 years to the day after the 21st amendment was passed ending the Prohibition years. The interesting bit here is that it was organized crime money made during the prohibition years that built Las Vegas and brought the word Casino out of Italy and into the desert. Happy Birthday Casino Gambling! The oldest casino in the world, the Casino di Venezia, located of course in Venice Italy, opened in 1638. The first one in the United States, the Golden Gate, didn't open until 1906 in Las Vegas, NV. The first legal casino in NJ appeared in 1978 - about the same time they all started having really ugly carpet.
The Riverview's Games:
By far the most popular casino game is the ubiquitous Slot Machine. Flashing lights, spinning rollers, a mind scrambling cacophony of noises, plus the possibility that you could become wealthy with just the push of a button is just too much for many to resist. You can play the classic Riverfront Slots here - updated for 2022! Our jackpots come with coordinates!
The Riverview isn't a one-trick pony however - we now have two games now! From the roulette wheel to the rollers in a slot machine, things that spin make the casino world go round. Unlike those other games, the "Money Wheel" is simple - just guess where the wheel will stop spinning and you win. Give it a shot - you might just win the final coordinates.
The Hide: When you get coordinates from a link above, you will be searching for a 50 cal ammo box hidden in typical fashion. If a slot-machine is filled with cash, this cache is filled with slot-machine. Bring some loose change if you want to trade swag or take home a souvenir. There are thorns protecting the cache but you shouldn't have to wade through any to get there if you approach from the correct angle. Happy Hunting and enjoy your stay at the Riverview Casino!
