He's hard to see from across the street or even just a few feet away, but if you look up at GZ you'll see Boris The Spider in all his glory. Boris is a very cool piece of neighborhood art created by the property owner, who kindly agreed to let us hide a cache here so other geocachers could get to know Boris too. In the words of his creator:
"He’s been evolving for about six years now. I found the legs in a job site dumpster, they are metal sheathing from large electrical cables that I thought would be cool to use for something. I held onto them for over a year before I came up with the spider idea. It was initially just a Halloween decoration and sat in the front yard the first year. I painted it the next year and put it on a pole so it looked down on the sidewalk. I added the LED lights after that and I think it was three years ago when I hung it where it is now, though it was still just out from Halloween through Christmas. We decided to put it up after the Covid lockdown to spice things up a bit and it’s now a permanent fixture."
We especially loved the iteration that included what looked like Santa Claus' corpse wrapped up like prey in the spiderweb, but Boris is fun to look at any time of the year.
Because Boris has 8 legs, we have hidden an octopus just below him to mark the spot.
This is a neighborhood cache so please limit searching to daylight hours. The cache is not inside the fenced yard or the garden beds, no digging or climbing is required. Accessible from sidewalk.
Congratulations to La Deep Hike for FTF!
