A Solstice Sunset Gathering Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Morhoff: It is time for a final goodbye to this event… and Canada Day is a fitting time to do it. Thanks to my new geo friends to the north for making this a fun event!

Geocache Description:

21 June 2022, 21:00 - 21:30

*** I just made it to Campbell River and saw the meeting place. There is no cover. Oops! See everyone tonight!

I held a sunrise event on the Winter Solstice in Seattle. I had planned on hosting a Summer Solstice gathering, but I will be out of town. So I decided to celebrate the longest day of the year in Campbell River, BC. On June 21 the sun will rise at 5:11am and will set at 9:34pm for a whopping 16 hours 22 minutes and 26 seconds of daylight. This is 8 hours and 18 minutes more than on the winter solstice.

I did not know where to hold an event in Campbell River so I chose the Torii Gate in Sequoia Park. There is no guarantee of nice weather, but a little rain won't stop a girl from Seattle.

The posted time is 9:00 - 9:30pm - the end is 4 minutes shy of sunset, but I will hang out for the extra 240 seconds.

Hope to see some BC cachers on my trip North of the Border!
