I lived in Hernando County for 31 years and only learned of this beautiful botanical garden in the last couple of months. This bench & cache is placed in honor of Merry Rei and in memory of Jon "Pops" Rei who was the devoted husband of Merry, a loving father to his children, Darlene, Chris, Gabby & Sammy, and the Pops to his grandson, Tristan.
We lost our rock far too soon on August 9, 2019 at the age of 54.
Jon was a man of many talents. He was a chef, a real estate appraiser, a carpenter, a gardener, a basketball/racquetball player, an atv rider, a painter of our nails, a comedian, an ice carver, a screenplay writer, a blackjack player, a friend to everyone he talked to (even the guy standing in line at 7-11), but most importantly he was our safe place.
We miss you dad and hope you're making Heaven as beautiful as you left Earth.
