Geocache Description:

1991. nikome više nije bilo do igranja rata. Svi smo se skupa družili u atomskom skloništu. Izvor fotografija - www.visitzapresic.hr i FB stranica Zaprešić, kak imam te rad

Neighborhood rivalries have existed probably since the neighborhoods. Trešnjevka against Trnje, Siget against Trnsko, Bukovac against Dubrava, Špansko against Malešnica... At the end of the 1980s, Zaprešić was one of Zagreb's neighborhoods. Since it is separated by road and railway from the nearest neighboring 'hood of Podsused, rivalry arose between the settlements in the neighborhood itself. First, it was important which elementary school you were attending, Elementary School Ljudevit Gaj in Marles or Elementary School Antun Augustinčić in the old Center, and then also which building you were from. Between the Center and Marles ther is Terminal. It got its name from the bus terminal. This was once the departure station of bus line 172 Zaprešić - Črnomerec. The first building (so-called brown) at Terminal was built in 1984 and was the only one with a shelter in cases of nuclear threath at that time. In 1989, the "blue" building was built. The blue and brown building together form a square shape, with the most famous park in Zaprešić, imaginatively named Park. Since the brown building folks were considered natives, they dissliked the newbies who moved into the blue building. To this day, I have no idea what was the trigger for the conflict. Perhaps the fact that during construction the park was turned into a temporary storage ground for construction materials, which bothered the boys who used to play soccer there and girls who played gumi-gumi. One day the arming began. Bunkers, smoke bombs & water bombs were being prepared, brick forts were being built that served as trenches. While there were construction materials around, there was also ammunition. An open-air arsenal. The front line of the conflict was the promenade, which still divides the park into two parts. In 1991, we stopped playing war for obvious reasons. We all hung out together in the shelter during the war years that followed.
