Flash to the Crash
(Buddy Holley Crash Site)
I think that all of us have been to this spot at one time or another to pay our respects and earn a smiley for the virtual but have you ever been here for a Flash Mob!
This weekend will be full of music and caching so what could be more appropriate than a visit to the crash site where Buddy Holly, "The Big Bopper" J.P. Richardson, Ritchie Valens and Roger Peterson ended their lives and the spot where the saying "The Day the Music Died" was born.
It is rumored that the wing is in a hanger at the Mason City Airport.
We will meet at the parking coordinates and start our pilgrimage west down the trail where we will pay our respects and get a group photo. Fifties attaire with "Holly style glasses" if possible would be nice. When parking please park on one side of the road and do not block any entrances to fields, this is September, farmers may be using the road for access and/or going from one field to another. Parking is limited, take a look at who else has signed up for the event, and if possible car pool to the area.
Remember, the walk to and from the crash site is on private property, owner has granted access by the trail only. On our return to our vehicles let's practice what we preach and if there is any trash, CITO! (I'll have a trash bag for us)
