The Center for Outdoor Ethics views geocaching as a fun and worthwhile recreational pursuit when done in accordance with land management agency regulations and with Leave No Trace in mind. As the popularity of geocaching has exploded over the past few years, land managers in many areas are seeing more impacts related to geocaching. However, because of geocaching, more and more people are enjoying the outdoors. As responsible geocachers, we have an obligation to tread gingerly on the land and adhere to the Leave No Trace Principles.
LNT04 - Leave What You Find
Principle 4: Leave What You Find:
Always be sure to allow others a sense of discovery by leaving rocks, plants, archaeological artifacts and other objects of interest as you find them. Geocaches are sometimes hidden at historically significant areas, however, leave what you find involves many aspects of outdoor use.
Leave what you find elements to consider when geocaching:
- Preserve the past: observe, but do not touch, cultural or historic structures and artifacts. Never use artifacts as cache items.
- Bonus cache hint: W=27.
- Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects for others to enjoy.
- Practice the “lift, look, replace” technique – if you lift a rock to look under it, replace it exactly as you found it.

The cache is a regular size lock & lock style container hidden along the Horse Trail

No fires
No bikes / ATVs / personal watercraft
No swimming or ice fishing
Dogs must be leashed
No alcohol or illegal substances
No camping
Fishing in designated areas only
Collecting of plants & animals prohibited
Park only at N 42° 05.744' W 83° 26.552'
All Geocachers must follow the above rules.
Crosswinds Marsh is open from DAWN to DUSK. Admission is FREE.
