This cache is located at the White Elephant trailhead of the Mickelson Bike Trail.

The name "White Elephant" comes from a mine that was located across the highway from the cache. A near by information sign has the following:

White Elephant Mines' remains can be seen on the other side of the highway. Usually, when something was called a "white elephant" it meant that it was not worth much. That is not the case here. Feldspar, a silicate of aluminum that was mined here, was profitable. It was shipped to Illinos, where it was used to make a white glaze for bathroom fixtures.
Feldspar is an abundant mineral group in the earth's crust.
