More Morton Magic #7: Clearwater Reflections
This is the 7th of a 17-cache series which will take you on a wonderful 6km looping trail up the deep Morton valley through Sunnydale and The Glen passing historical farm and residential buildings, industrial ruins, mill ponds and weirs, rich deciduous and pine woodlands, a reservoir, waterfall, low moorland, farm fields and then back down an old track and flower-festooned path into the village.
The cache, a small camo-taped preform tube, is hidden just off the path running above the reservoir along the eastern edge of The Glen close to a small, secluded well-wooded pond - Clearwater Dam.

In the past the pond/dam was a popular summer destination with village children paddling and swimming there in hot weather. Situated between Glen Farm and the reservoir, but perched high enough to be airy with good views, it was then quite open and shallow. Now it is beautiful in a different way, the pool being hung over with greenery and having almost a secretive feel to it.
As you take in the beauty, peace and solitude of your surroundings and, briefly before moving on, reflect on your good fortune to be here, perhaps you can also faintly hear the happy voices of the kids splashing in the pond all those years ago . . .
