In Greek mythology, Sisyphus was punished by Zeus after he cheated death twice. He was condemed to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for eternity.
Working in healthcare, especially of late, the myth of Sisyphus resonates strongly. We pour our heart and soul in the care of our patients. Wracking our brains for curative solutions. However, the intracies of the human body and the power of an individual's choice often derails our best efforts and the rock comes rolling down, sometimes colliding with us on it's way. But each day, we dust off and start uphill again. Hoping to make a difference, to heal and give someone a second chance at life. Like these children of Sisyphus, we do it smiling and with a happy heart.
