It is a little known fact that the Whittlesea Mega Event Site has a darker side - the Whittlesea Showgrounds are also home to the Mega Beast! Caches have been plundered and sausages devoured. The call has gone out for geocachers to band together as ONE ANGRY MOB, make their mark on the beast’s most coveted logbook, and send it on its way!
Technical details
This cache is a MOB cache. In order to reveal the final coordinates, at least 3 individuals now need to be logged on at the listed coordinates at the same time.
For your information, over the weekend of the 2022 Whittlesea Event there were nominated times for people to gather to increase the chance of having the required number:
- Saturday 19 November 2022 (mob = 30): 10:30am, 1:00pm, 5:00pm
- Sunday 20 November 2022 (mob = 10): 10:00am, 2:00pm
The original mob server was discontinued at the start of 2024; however, the experience has been recreated by talk2azs to run on a new server.
To log on, players need to tap on the following link on their separate devices:

and continue to refresh the window until they are close enough and connected to the mob.
✅ If you get a Geolocation Permission error, ensure your browser‘s settings allow geolocation.
eg. for Safari on iPhone:
Go to Settings>Privacy&Security>Location Services>Scroll down to Safari Websites>Select While Using the App
✅ Refreshing the window should also clear any GPS reading errors.
✅ Be patient - the mob refresh rate is a bit slow, so even though you might be within the mob radius you may have to wait there for a little bit until your presence is detected!
Cache information
Once you have the coordinates, the mob connection is no longer needed at GZ. You will find the cache just a short walk away, still within the event site.
