One of the things all of us can do to protect and improve our environment, is recycle...It reduces waste ( less landfill), conserves natural resources (wood and minerals) and saves energy ( recycling a material takes less energy than producing it from virgin material).
Some say plastic lasts FOREVER in the environment, others say it takes 450-1000 years to decompose. Good reason then, to recycle and repurpose.
The list of articles made from recycled plastic is endless:
construction material eg pipes
playground equipment and garden furniture
decks, fences, picnic tables, park benches
insulation for jackets, sleeping bags and duvets
carpeting
new plastic bags and reusable shopping bags
storage containers, new bottles and containers
car batteries........etc, etc.....
Metals, paper, glass, even oil, can all be recycled. Just remember to wash articles before placing in recycling bins. Let's all work together to make a difference.....
Local geocacher, fantasticplastic, creates imaginative artwork, for example, this cache container, from discarded plastic. Survey the surroundings at GC9K45R to see more creations......
