The jewel of Garland’s parks and recreation department, Rowlett Creek is a 97-acre expanse offering 16 miles of biking trails with 14 stacked loops, bass fishing in the creek, a pavilion, and picnic areas. Large trees provide shade for cool walks or jogs with plenty of lovely scenery to please the eye.
During prohibition, Rowlett Creek was home to bootleggers and even speakeasies. Garland didn't have a dedicated ambulance in those years, so the Williams Funeral Services hearse was often sent out to the area when trouble brewed (sometimes as an ambuance and other times as a hearse).
