Back in the day when we were growing up in Ladysmith, Bayview Road connected further down the hill to the Island Highway. My guess it was cut off because of the traffic accidents that occured at the intersection, but I don't know that for sure. The rest of the road is now part of a trail that has become the Cowichan Valley Trail system.
Take a rest at the cache site to make the find. There isn't much of a view here, but it is a bit out of the way and the muggle traffic should be low.
