I grew up on what was called Second Avenue extension just up the road a bit from Aggie Fields. I spent a lot of time in these fields, watching ball games, retrieving foul balls behind the stands (now gone), and exploring in the nearby forest. One of my earliest memories is collecting tadpoles from the ditch that runs along the edge of the fields. It runs pretty much all year long, so I think its source might be a natural spring. I ended up becoming an aquatic biologist, so I like to think that this is where it all started! The ditch has been mostly filled in with drainage rock now, but the water still flows out of a pipe exactly where I would watch and catch the tadpoles in my net as a kid. Tadpole hole is now covered with a metal grate.
When retrieving the cache container, take care to open it and reseal it away from drain, lest it be lost to the depths. No need to untie its tether.
