Welcome to our Presidential Power Series. This series will recognize the past Presidents of the United States. Each cache will contain some facts about the president it represents. These caches are not intended to be super difficult. They are all situated in rural New Madrid County Missouri and placed in locations maintained by the county highway department. Numbers indicate the President and not order on the map. Some things you might need to know about this series… Bring your own pen, TOTT - Tweezers may be needed, all caches in this series are available 24 hours a day, and most will be on gravel roads. Please return the cache to the location in which you found it. Upon completion of this series we want it to be kinda like a power trail in that you can get a lot of smileys in a short time. We do request that you leave the containers with their location. Most are situated in Southern New Madrid County as that is where I reside and I want to be able to provide good maintenance. It will take some time to complete this trail and I will place them randomly as I am doing it. We sure hope you enjoy it.
John Tyler (March 29, 1790 – January 18, 1862) was the 10th president of the United States, serving from 1841 to 1845, after briefly holding office as the 10th vice president in 1841. He was elected vice president on the 1840 Whig ticket with President William Henry Harrison, succeeding to the presidency after Harrison's death 31 days after assuming office. Tyler was a stalwart supporter and advocate of states' rights, including regarding slavery, and he adopted nationalistic policies as president only when they did not infringe on the powers of the states. His unexpected rise to the presidency posed a threat to the presidential ambitions of Henry Clay and other Whig politicians, and left Tyler estranged from both of the nation's major political parties at the time.
Please notify us if there are any issues with the cache. We work hard to place well maintained caches across Southeast Missouri. Also please log DNF’s as this will trigger us to go check on it. We are proud members of Semo Geocachers Organization (SEMO-GEO). Happy Cachin!
