Welcome to the Reinhardt Redwood Tour (RRT). A number of great East Bay Regional Parks have great cache series, such as the Assault on Briones (still going strong), or the previous one in this park, "10 Redwood Caches!" (now mostly archived). This park has been a favorite of mine since childhood, and now that I've found (nearly) all the 50ish existing caches hidden here it's time to contribute a series of my own.
The Phillips Loop Trail is a short alternative that parallels the East Ridge trail for a span, just down the hill. Now it has a cache of its own squeezed in to a space between the critters above. Much of the park is made up of a pair of ridges that run from northwest to southeast, and the canyon and stream that run between them. It's interesting to see that the redwoods are mostly found on the northeast slopes of the ridges, while the southwest slopes, which receive more sun, have a very different mix of vegetation.
This is stop 2 of 7 traditionals hidden around the park. Take note of the 3-digit Code G written on the back of the log. Find all 7 (in any order) and collect the codes hidden on the back of the each log to determine the location of the finale: GC9WM1E
