This cache is placed in a special location for our family - between the Ocean Club of Hali'i Kai and the the Pacific Ocean. It is hidden along a trail with several names - Ala Kahakai, Fishermen's Trail, or 'Anaeho'omalu 'Ili South Kohala.
The trail can be publicly accessed from the Hilton Waikoloa Village, the Waikoloa Golf course, public access parking at 49 Black Sands Beach, or Anaehoomalu Bay. The trail can also be privately accessed from Hali'i Kai, Ke Kailani (One Ocean), and the Mauna Lani. If you enter the trail at 49 Black Sands Beach (Honoka'ope Bay Beach), the cache is approximatly a half mile south on the trail. If you enter the trail from between Hali'i Kai and the Waikoloa Golf Course, it is approximately one tenth of a mile on the trail.
This trail is made of lava rock and care should be taken to traverse the lava safely, and the views are outstanding. In the winter you can see whales, in the summer, sometimes paddlers or dolphins, and at sunset from the cache site, you may hear a sunset ceremony with the conch being blown.
