Cache Location
There is never a shortage of things to do in the Hub City! The Hattiesburg Community Arts Center is a raw and creative space in Downtown Hattiesburg. The HCAC, located in the former Hattiesburg American Newspaper building, is a 36,000 square-foot facility boasting performing art spaces, a dance studio, classrooms, and several collaborative and private studios. The Center's outreach programs include free afterschool art classes for children, community art installations and park beautification, a 2,500 square-foot community garden, and the City's first Little Free Art Center. In November 2022, the City of Hattiesburg announced the HCAC is the recipient of a $219,240 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission Building Fund for the Arts Program to be used to develop The Paper Warehouse Theatre, a black box performance theater.
Operated by the City of Hattiesburg's Parks & Recreation Department, the center offers a variety of programs for residents and tourists alike through monthly art markets and quarterly open houses. Shoppers are able to shop local and appreciate all of the artists that make Hattiesburg diverse and rich with creativity.
