
Hattiesburg GeoTour
With more than 40 geocache hides to find, Hattiesburg offers one of only 100 active official GeoTours worldwide. Presented by VisitHATTIESBURG, the Hattiesburg GeoTour is the first of its kind in Mississippi. Locate a minimum of 35 of the GeoTour caches and turn in your completed passport to receive your official Hattiesburg GeoTour Geocoin!
Cache Location
Built in the Italian Renaissance-style, the Hattiesburg Cultural Center, located downtown Hattiesburg, It houses the Hattiesburg Arts Council as well as the museum for the Hattiesburg Area Historical Society. This Mississippi Landmark assists and coordinates an average of 2,300 events annually from weddings, reunions and everything in between.
Prior to the civil rights movement, the historic building served as the library. During the 1964 Freeedom Summer movement teacher Umoja Kwanguvu and students were arrested for trying to use library services such as checking out a book. The cache is an ammo can custom-painted by local artist/muralist Gabby Smith concealed by what appears to be a very heavy object.
