Pistalanharju is part of the long ridge formation of Raikuunkangas, which starts from the shore of Puruvesi and reaches the northern end of Pistalanharju to the shores of Paasvesi, where according to folktale, the devil of Paasvesi, lives. This little-known Kerimäki’s "Punkaharju" compares to its well-known big brother, the National Landscape. These sand cloths and ridges have been used for relaxing and calming down since the Stone Age. The area has been strategically important and has been fortified heavily during the times of war. You should bring your swimming trunks and search for the local sand beach about 1 kilometre further along the road to the north. The cache presents the highest point of the ridge, where you can enjoy a snack on a bench carved from a local pine and let the forest and the landscape speak for themselves.
It is possible to reach cache by car, but caution is necessary and driving over the ridge along the forest road is not exactly relaxing for the nerves. It is more recommended to get a comprehensive experience by parking the car before getting on the "ridge road" and walking on top of the ridge.
