Fork in the road - which way will you go?
Where you are standing allows you to go to the north and see the remnants of what an early quarry on the peninsula looked like. It is a little more than halfway to the road to the parking lot in the woods to the east.
If you proceed east along the path that branches off here, you will see evidence of the rock being quarried out. If you are lucky, you may see some deer down in the quarried area. Stay on the path - there is poison ivy if you wander off the trail. The path will take you to the lake and will come out near the lifesaving station.
