Geocache Description:

An easy detour on your way to the lake. This spot offers the best 360 degree view from any quarry we've found so far. Suprised that there wasn't already a cache here.

Happy Caching!

A series of caches located at USFS mineral resource pits, within the

Deschutes National Forest. These pits are listed and named in the Bend District Materials Sources Land Management Plan as a mineral resource.

A tribute to building our forest road system, these quarries remain as a historic reminder of a time gone by. While some are still in production, many of these are located in very scenic spots throughout the forest, but are not currently maintained.

The intent of this series is to find the “lost quarries” that have been abandoned, and are in the process of being reclaimed by mother nature. A short hike will be required thru the quarries to find the caches.

We suggest parking at the end of the road and going for a walk!  Driving into these areas may result in damage to the area and/or your rig.

With over 160 official quarries and pits, located in remote locations throughout the forest, look for future lost quarry caches to come!
