Geocache Description:

The cache is located at the tip of Bishop's Peninsula /  Uri O Te Wai, near the lookout, and will take approx 20 minutes each way.

The two easiest ways to get there are either to;

a) Follow the trapping track that begins to the left of the entrance gate (access is by parking on the grass and climbing through the fence)

b) By walking on the left side beach at low tide, and then cutting up onto the trapping track towards the end to get up to the lookout.

"Bishop's Peninsula, about 20 acres, is still a Maori reserve, and its native bush and scrub cover have been well preserved. In the early 1880's Bishop Suter leased it thus creating a private reserve against the ravages of cattle and fire. Historically one of its interests is the fact that there is a Maori defensive trench across the distal peninsula."
