Geocache Description:

This is a Letterbox Hybrid geocache. It is not at the published co-ordinates - you will need to visit these coordinates to work out the final location.

These Letterbox caches simply highlight significant individuals, from a variety of fields, who once lived behind a letterbox at this location.  My thanks to tundra70 for allowing me to add to this interesting new series.

Cuthbert Collingwood (1748–1810)

The published coordinates will take you to a plaque of the site where Cuthbert Collingwood was born in 1748. He was educated locally at the Royal Grammar School and at the early age of 12 went to sea under the naval tutelage of his cousin, Captain Richard Braithwaite. In 1775 he fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill in Boston, whereafter he was commissioned as a lieutenant. In 1777 he met Horatio Nelson with whom he partnered in many victories in the Napoleonic Wars, most famously at The Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 soon after which he was raised to a peerage as Baron Collingwood. When not at sea he resided in Morpeth and Chirton, now a suburb of North Shields. In 1810, he was laid to rest alongside Nelson in St Paul's Cathedral.

One of the North East's most distinguished, many buildings and streets are named in his honour around the North East. (My favourite building being the pub in Jesmond).

The cache is a short walk away from the published coordinates and is a magnetic tube.

To calculate the final co-ordinates:

At the plaque, look around you and you will see some nostalgic street art. Find the piece dated July 28th 1828.

The final container can be found at:

N54 58."A soaped pig chase" "A donkey race for half a guinea” “To dive for shillings in a tub of water”

W1 36."To grin for tobacco" "For him who can eat 3 penny rolls the soonest" "Race in sacks for a crown"

The cache is small, but does contain a stamp. Please leave this in the cache.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
