This cache is a part of a series to recognize Lincoln Parks young and old, well known and hidden.
Welcome to Van Dorn Park! This park, the ajoining street, and a neighboring subdivision are all named after William T. Van Dorn. William T. Van Dorn was born in Indiana in 1843. He is most known for inventing a safer way to assemble trains called the Van Dorn Coupler. In 1880, Van Dorn moved to Lincoln after being inspired by a speech given by Thomas Kennard envisioning our Capitol City's potential.
This park features a well maintained single track mountain bike trail. The only other place I am aware of to be able to do that in Lincoln is Wilderness Park, south west of here. The Bison Trail runs along the north side.
In the Waypoints you'll find coordinates for parking as well as a reference point of which you can see the Nebraska State Capitol in the NNE distance.
To get to the second and final stage:
I'll just give you the North solution cause counting things isn't the funnest thing. :)
