In the summer of 2022, a new recreational area opened near the Middle Fork of the Forked Deer River just north of Jackson, TN. The 850-acre nature area opened with the completion of Phase I and approximately 5 miles of paved trails for hiking and biking. Future additions will include fishing, kayaking and canoeing as a new 10-acre lake has been added that will be stocked with fish later this year. Phase 2 will include an overlook over the river and restroom facilities. As funding becomes available the recreational area will be further developed to give residents of Madison and surrounding counties a safe place to get outside, enjoy nature and exercise.
