Welcome to the Farewell to Finder’s Fest geo-art, brought to you by the Forest Minions! This series celebrates weird and unusual things throughout the Sunshine State. Please do not go to the posted locations. Rather, solve the challenging quiz found at the bottom of each page, for the final location. For the letterbox caches, please leave the stamp in the cache. They are not trade items. For the discerning traveler, we’ve included the GPS coordinates for these bizarre locations, when we were able to establish them.
Old Firehouse – Location 28.8114, -81.2656
The old firehouse in Sanford Florida, is reportedly haunted by the ghost of convicted murderer, Percy Bayless, hanged behind the firehouse, for killing Deputy Cleveland Jacobs. Hauntings include pebbles dropping into rooms, from thin air, and footsteps heard creaking through the second story ceiling, which used to be the floor of the courthouse, long since removed during a restoration.
Others believe the hauntings are from the numerous fire fighters who have died both in the station itself, or in fires, nearby. These hauntings include furniture moving by itself, doors opening and closing on their own, and the sounds of rattling chains, heard throughout the building.
