Twentse landschap
Het Twentse landschap is adembenemend mooi. Van uniek natuurgebied tot uitgestrekt veengebied. Terug in de tijd; ooit wandelden hier de mammoet, de wolharige neushoorn en het laatste reuzenhert. Sterker nog, ooit was dit gebied zee, getuige de walvis- en haaientanden die af en toe nog gevonden worden. Nu is het unieke Twentse land een bonte verzameling van bijzondere landschapselementen. Zin in bos, heide, weide, beekjes en bronnen? Twente heeft het allemaal!

Een grafheuvel wordt ook wel tumulus genoemd en is een prehistorische heuvel waarin mensen werden begraven.
De heuvels werden over de menselijke overblijfselen (een persoon of meerdere personen) heen opgeworpen: wel of niet gecremeerd en in een kuil, kist, urn of hunebed.

The mounds were raised over the human remains (one person or several persons): cremated or not and placed in a pit, coffin, urn or dolmen.
