Geocache Description:

A series that will not only introduce you to some of the dog parks around the mornington peninsula but we will also be sharing some fun facts and information about a different breed of dog for every cache in the series! Although they are numbered they don't have to be done in order. We have also got our resident experts, Ebony (Gnome5580s geodog!) And Calypso (Beckgizs geodog!) Who will be giving each dog park a score of 1 to 5 paws depending on how much she approves of this park! 🐶 we hope you enjoy this series as much as Ebony and Calypso had testing each of them! Here is their opinion of this park:

BALLAM PARK:

This large group of sports ovals is a very popular place to come and exercise every member of the family especially the furry ones! The actual dog park itself is very small and has a lot of agility equipment if thats something you're interested in and it does have seating, water, rubbish bins and spare poop bags at the gate. This is just not the best size for running around in which is why most people just let their dogs run around in the ample fields and ovals nearby but unfortunately there is no fence to keep your puppies safe! Ebony and Calypso rate this park 3 out of 5 paws due to its small size and lack of fencing. The breed we have chosen for this cache is:

German Short-haired Pointer:

The German Shorthaired Pointer is a medium to large sized breed of pointing dog developed in the 19th century in Germany for hunting. A versatile hunting breed, being an all-purpose gun dog suitable for both land and water, they are streamlined yet powerful with strong legs.

Life span: 12 – 14 years

Origin: Germany

Other names: Deutscher kurzhaariger Vorstehhund; Deutsch Kurzhaar; Kurzhaar

Colors: Liver Roan, Liver & White, Liver, White & Chocolate, Black & White, Brown

Temperament: Boisterous, Intelligent, Affectionate, Bold, Cooperative, Trainable

Height: Female: 53–59 cm, Male: 58–64 cm

Weight: Female: 20–27 kg, Male: 25–32 kg

The GSHP can make a great family pet and do well in families with kids or just couples, they are very high energy and need to get lots of exercise and stimulation or they may become bored and destructive.

The Cache:

You are looking for a slightly different magnetic cache. You will need to be stealthy when retrieving and putting the cache back, this can be a very busy area and people can appear from all directions without warning so please make sure you choose the right time to sign and replace. Good luck and happy hunting! 🤠
