This cache is on a secret little path called the butterfly walk which leads to an old chalk pit now reclaimed by nature and dedicated to butterflies. Butterfly bushes are a plenty and as it's name suggests this area is full of butterflies in summer. It can though, be a bit of a thrash through in summer and the ground is uneven so we placed the cache on the more easily accessible end of the path, that way you can choose whether to brave the rest of it or go round via the main track B42 down to Upper Adgestone Road if heading for the pit and our next cache called "Butterfly Walk".
The main car parks for the whole of the Brading Down Nature reserve Parking are on Brading Down Road but parking IS possible on Upper Adgestone Road. It is a quiet road shared with pedestrians, horses and bicycles and the recommended speed limit is 15mph.
The path is part of Brading Down Nature Reserve managed by Gift to Nature.
