This horriffic nursery rhyme can be dated back to to the mid 1700s and is chant to send a ladybug on its way.
The ladybug (or ladybird) beetle was (is) helpful to farmers by reducing the number of harmful larvae and insects on crops, and it is considered bad luck to squish one.
