Geocache Description:

20 August 2022, 09:00 - 09:45

International Geocaching Day - Challenge

When: Saturday 20th August 2022

Time: 9am to 9.30am

Where:  St Michaels and All Angels Church, The Square, Sycamore Road, Amersham, HP6 5DR

Why: The day celebrates International Geocaching Day! Also, it is an opportunity for us to CHALLENGE ourselves to take part in an opportunity to break the WORLD RECORD for the most geocachers to log a find on a geocache, Adventure Lab location or to attend an event. The current record is 126,833 geocachers and it was set on 11th August 2013.

Who: Geocachers, old and new - everyone is welcome. If you're new to events and feel a little nervous, send me a message beforehand and I will look out for you.

Parking: There is no parking at the venue – it is for those visiting the church only. There are numerous car parks around Amersham, as highlighted in the waypoints (If you are a frequent visitor to Amersham, you will be aware that one car park is temporarily unavailable due to building works – this may change by the time of the event)

Public transport - buses:

1/1A = between Hemel Hempstead, Chesham, Holmer Green, Hazlemere and High Wycombe.

335/336 = between Watford, Rickmamsworth, Chorleywood, Chenies, Little Chalfont, Beaconsfield and High Wycombe. This will only have a limited service throughout the day.

103 = The updates to the timetable and route will take place on 4th September 2022, so should still be operational on 20th August between Watford, Rickmamsworth, Chorleywood, Chenies, Little Chalfont, Beaconsfield and High Wycombe.

105 = between Uxbridge, Chalfont St Peter, Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield and Chesham

Public transport - trains:

Underground = Metropolitan Line

National Rail = Aylesbury, Stoke Mandeville, Wendover, Great Missenden and then towards London Marylebone If you are travelling from Central London, it will be quicker to travel from London Marylebone as it skips half of the train stations on the Metropolitan Line and you can still use your Oyster Card. National Rail Stations towards Aylesbury do not accept Oyster Card Payments.

Feel free to bring along: TBs and Geocoins for others to discover and move along.
