Geocache Description:

15 October 2022, 15:00 - 17:00

South Fork of the Edisto River CITO 2.0

October 15, 2022 1500-1700 (that is 3 PM to 5 PM)

This CITO event will take place at the boat ramp on the South Fork of the Edisto River at Aiken State Park.  Aiken State Park has been gracious over the years and has allowed several geocaches to be placed on this land; therefore, I thought we could give back by removing the trash that is accumulating on the banks of the Edisto River.  The bonus is that you can earn a souvenir!

Due to my work schedule, I have scheduled the cleanup for the afternoon.  However, feel free to arrive earlier and enjoy the park.  There are a variety of geocaches at Aiken State park.  Some are easy finds and some will make you pull your hair out.  In addition, if you bring a kayak or canoe there is an Adventure Lab that takes you on a short float down the Edisto River.  There is no fee if you park at the boat ramp, but if you go into the main parts of the park there is a fee (adults- $3.00, seniors- $1.50, children 6 to 15- $1.00, children 5 and under- free).

What's included:

  • Bottled water
  • Trash bags
  • A limited supply of gloves
  • A limited supply of track pickers
  • A limited supply of safety vests.

What you should bring if you desire:

  • Snacks.
  • Drink of choice (the park rangers do not allow adult beverages).
  • The proper attire for trash cleanup (please take weather, poisonous plants, and thorns into consideration).
