Join us for the 20th Annual Picnic in Hampton Roads.
When: Saturday, September 3rd (Labor Day Weekend)
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Lunch: 12 noon
Where: Newport News Park Shelter 8
Parking: At the Ranger Station or Parking Lot behind the Station
Who: Open to all geocachers, families, and anyone interested in geocaching.
What: A social get-together to meet fellow cachers, exchange stories, learn about different aspects of caching, swap TB's, oh yea, and some caching thrown in there too!
20 years! We have grown from a small picnic with about 40 people to a mega event with 500+ for 5 years and back to a picnic for about 35 people. We went from burgers and pot luck to a catered event and back to chicken and potluck and the last couple years a "bring your own picnic".
Tropical storms or beautiful weather, we've had a picnic the last 19 years, most on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, so let's keep the tradition alive.
Once again we'll be at Newport News Park. We've reserved picnic shelter #8 behind the Ranger Station just off Constitution Way in Newport News Park. (Same shelter we've been at the last few years)
BYOP (Bring Your Own Picnic) Sadly we will NOT be doing a potluck again this year. Show us your geocaching picnic style. Prizes for the Best Traditional Picnic, Best Gourmet Picnic and Most Inventive/Creative Picnic.
