A caching get-together for regulars and newcomers to the hobby alike, with food readily available in the surroundings of the Ikea Restaurant in Cardiff. Official event time is 10:00am - 11:00am.
Haj!
Scandi Brekkie #2
This is the second of what looks like to become a semi-regular recurring event series at this, and possibly similarly branded locations in the future. Why not come and join us for breakfast or just a cuppa coffee, chat and trackable swap/discovery. It will be an informal atmosphere so if this is your first Geocaching event or you're an event aficionado, this one is for you.
There is of course no requirement to buy any food or drink (or anything) here, but I imagine it would be hard to sit and watch a group of people digging into their full Welsh breakfasts (other healthier/vegan options are available) or imbibing some of the speciality Scandinavian soft drinks.
When
The event is scheduled for Saturday 29th October and is a morning event so that the rest of the day is yours. Officially the event will take place between 10:00am and 11:00am however, the restaurant opens at 9:30am and I hope to be seated and scoffing my brekkie by 9:45am. I suggest that if you intend to eat, get your food first and then find us as there can be quite a queue at the food dispensary during the morning. Many will probably stay on long after 11am (some even stayed for lunch!) and the log book will remain open "out of hours" so if you're only able to pop in early or find us still there hours later, the event log book (which is also a trackable!) will still be open.
Where
Many will have been to this location in the past but, just in case you're not exactly sure how to get there, here's the rub.
The easiest way to get here is by car. There is ample parking both beside and underneath the venue.
If you're heading towards Cardiff from the east, turn off the M4 motorway onto the A48M on junction 29 and then continue west on the A4232. Once you're out of the tunnel under the Taff, you'll see signs pointing you to this establishment on a junction soon after - follow these and you're at your destination, as your satnav would say.
If your heading towards Cardiff from the west, turn off the M4 onto the A4232 at junction 33. From there on in, follow the above directions!
If you're heading in from the south... swim.
Bus - there is a bus stop very close to the location but I don't know which services stop there at present.
Train - The location is about a mile from Cardiff station so... a bit of a hike if truth be told... but can be done.
How to find us
Once at the venue, you'll need to make your way to the second (top) floor. Many will recognise Geofriends of course, but just in case, since I can't pre-determine where we'll be in the café on the day, if you are unsure, look for a table with a big plush penguin sitting on it (this time he'll be bigger than the last one which many didn't spot!).
It looks like the next paragraph isn't going to be an issue - I think we'd know by now if the government was going to do yet another lockdown...
The Oh, no, not again! factor...
If you intend to come, please mark a Will Attend - I will send any notifications if the event has to be postponed should, once again, the Welsh government deem it unsafe for large gatherings to be able to take place. I will also update and inform of any major changes at the top of this page.
