Oaky-dokey is a series of caches around part of Shire Brook Valley, celebrating our most iconic native tree. There is a bonus cache at the end, so make sure you get the information from the logbooks. The series is 2.5 miles if you start from the nature reserve car park. There are some slopes and uneven ground, but generally the paths are in decent condition.
Oak fact. The oak tree has been sacred to many gods linked with thunder and lightning such as Zeus and Dagda. This may be because oak trees are larger than other species, so more prone to getting struck by lightning.
