You can take the red trail to the end by the pond and pick up the old green trail just on the other side of the stream. I noticed a fox coming out of one of the abandoned cabins nearby while placing the cache.
BTW, the Striped Mullet is considered catadromous. This means they spend a significant part of their lives in freshwater or brackish estuaries, but migrate to the ocean, specifically deep offshore waters, to spawn.
