Its been awhile, but the last time we had an event nearby was on 25/11/16 for riser5: "31 of the R5" GC6PH1J
And on that day gorby was celebrating finding his 4000th cache at another event: "Manaia - ical Madness" GC6WPR1
Now a few years have gone by, and a few more caches have been found.
So to celebrate rustynz milestone of 8000 finds this event has been created.
The plan is to get together, have a chat and a few laughs too.
As to the cache chosen for such a milestone, the plan is to go for a walk sometime in the morning to Mt Manaia and find this old cache:
Manaia Mania (Whangarei) (2001) GC23EB (Hidden : 21/10/01)
So hoping for no problems with the track (it was closed in 2016), and the sun is shining.
Looking forward to seeing some locals and perhaps not so local cachers at tonights event.
